The Galloping Moments
One argument to go off-line is so you can be a living, breathing human being once more.
It was nothing personal, my tumbling off the internet to tend to real life. Come to find out, real life is consuming and wonderful and filled with what I’ve come to call “galloping moments.” This came from a horseback ride this summer. I, out of shape and out of breath, rode a Spanish Andulasian at full speed across a beach in Sayulita, Mexico. My eyes welled up with emotion. The last three years – oy – and just like that, life in a moment.
So I gathered more gallops. Singing Doris Day at karaoke, loudly, badly. Nights at the Hollywood Bowl. Tacking upwind on an Islander 36 in Santa Monica Bay.
And smaller cantering moments: an afternoon nap with the dawg. Homemade guacamole and a shot of Don Julio. Shade on the picket line in front of Disney.
And yet, StoryLab Pro has been quietly developing its new sessions, consults and coaching. For you. For screenwriters and writers and authors because we are the lifeblood of storytelling.
The WGA & SAG-AFTRA strike continues. The AMPTP announced they’re turning Bedford Falls into Pottersville. They then ate a basket of puppies and smoked cigars. We don’t know how long we’ll be striking but let’s make sure you have new writing when it’s over.
We’ll use the guide in the Writing Sessions. They launch Monday, Sept. 4, and focus on how to:
- Form habits and rituals that will change your life (seriously)
- Get the most out of timed writing sprints
- Live up to your God-given potential
- Time-block your weeks
- Set your intentions, declare them, share them
- Reach your writing goals
- Celebrate the wins
That's it for now. Thanks for sticking around -- there'll be more good stuff coming your way.
